Episode 10: Bears, Bees & Billy Ohhh My!

In episode 10 with Jay missing; Stephan takes over the mixer with the rest of the gang to highlight the interesting story about the "bears and the bee's." They then jump into the latest hockey antics of Tom Wilson (WAS) and the New York Rangers. They also touch base on the great career of recently retired goaltender Ryan Miller (ANA). In local (Grand Rapids, Michigan) hockey news they discuss the recent career change of Davenport University's head coach Phil Sweeney. They'll have a quick conversation about the Silver Puck Challenge which is right around the corner. Eppy 10 concludes with some golf talk and why Just Chirpin'™ Podcast personality, Brent Bélanger dislikes the sport so much. This eppy is brought to you be the  Silver Puck Challenge.

Episode 9: SPCXVII Preview: Drew & Melanie

With SPCXVII only weeks away; Brent sits down with 5x AEA Champions Drew & Mel to go over the upcoming show at Patterson Ice Center.

Drew’s Background: Drew played high school hockey for 4 years at Midland High School. Graduating in 2003 he took his hockey “prowess” to the intramural and beer league ranks while at Western Michigan University. Having siblings that also played hockey growing up there were lots of basement hockey brawls as well. While playing in a charity hockey tournament in Kalamazoo he met his wife Melanie ("she couldn’t resist my sweet locker room dad bod").

Mel's Background: Mel grew up with a brother that played hockey and was a huge influence on her. "He’s a goalie and I’m not a psycho though". I pretty much put the skates on the minute I could walk, and was in learn to skate around 3-4 years old. I spent a good amount of time playing at Lakeland Hockey Arena in Waterford, MI (shout out Dylan Larkin).

Episode 8: Challenges & Championships

For Eppy 8 the boys discuss the recent boxing match between Jake Paul and Ben Askren. Then they talk about the mountain of games that the Vancouver Canucks have in front of them in the next 30 days. Sticking with hockey the gang take a closer look at the knee-on-knee hit between Alex Edler (VAN) and Zach Hyman (TOR). Wrapping up the show the boys highlight two major accomplishments in the professional and amateur hockey world. Tapping their sticks to Patrick Marleau (SJ) and his recent achievement playing the most games in NHL history; surpassing Gordie How (DET). Just Chirpin' gives a shout out to Hope College's D3 hockey team and winning their second National Championship in three (3) years!

Episode 7: Guess who's back?

Stephan returns from the hard sniffles and gives the listening audience a breakdown of what it was like to be on the IR. They also take a moment to send some love and healing energy to one of their hockey community members fighting his own battle with the hard sniffles. With the team finally back together, they touch base on the great hockey community they have here in west Michigan. Producer Chris challenges the boys in a true or false contest regarding the Suez Canal blockage; what really did happen?  To wrap up eppy seven (7) the guys take a look at a couple of the latest trades in the NHL; especially the Anthony Mantha (DET) to the Washington Capitals trade.

Episode 6: Special Guest | Billy "Billy"

Down a member for the week, the boys from Just Chirpin' bring in the goal scoring tendy Billy Russ to fill the vacancy. This eppy highlights Billy's involvement in beer league hockey and tournaments. They also boast about the impressive ladies that make up the SPC competitive coed team. To wrap up the show they discuss briefly the Nathan MacKinnon’s (COL) helmet toss at Conor Garland (ARZ). Dooz really can jump 10'.
